Learn About the Funding Agricultural Replacement Measures for Emission Reductions (FARMER) Zero-Emission Tractor Demonstration Projects
Through the FARMER program, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is at the forefront of demonstrating some of the first zero-emission agricultural tractors. Using $1 million from California Climate Investments, the Bay Area air district, in partnership with California Air Resources Board, released a solicitation for manufacturers to produce and demonstrate zero-emission agricultural tractors.

In November, CARB approved a far-reaching $2.6 billion investment plan that will expand access to all Californians so that everyone will benefit from our state's transition to zero-emission transportation. Supported projects range from incentives for cleaner trucks and buses, and mobility options such as bike- and car-sharing programs, to consumer rebates for clean cars.

Pre-Application Technical Assistance for Transformative Climate Communities
 
For its upcoming round of the Transformative Climate Communities program, the Strategic Growth Council is offering Pre-Application Technical Assistance to potential applicants. Such assistance will include workshops, tailored resources, and other guidance available through February 2023. To take advantage of this opportunity, please fill out this brief intake survey to be connected to the relevant assistance. See the TCC Technical Assistance page for more information.

Closing December 16: Opportunity to serve as third-party administrator for Advanced Technology Demonstration and Pilot Projects 

The Advanced Technology Demonstration and Pilot Projects, part of CARB’s Low Carbon Transportation program, is seeking a third-party administrator to implement and administer the program for three fiscal years. This opportunity is open to California-based public entities or non-profit organizations with experience in administering large-scale demonstration and pilot projects.

CARB is accepting applications through Wednesday, December 16, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. PST

 
Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities
Round 7 Funding Guidelines
The Strategic Growth Council is expected to adopt new funding guidelines for Round 7 of the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program at its December meeting. AHSC funds affordable housing projects that achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions by increasing access to transit, bicycling, and walking. 

The Final AHSC Round 7 Guidelines and other resources will be posted to the AHSC program website.

Community Air Grants Application Workshop January 10, 2023

CARB is hosting a virtual workshop for the Community Air Grants Program on January 10, 2023. The Community Air Grants works to build the capacity of community-based organizations to help them participate in the AB 617 Community Air Protection Program.

Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program Now Accepting Projects for 2023
The Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program provides grants to transit agencies to fund transformative capital improvement projects.

The Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program is now accepting project applications for the 2023 grant cycle. The application deadline is February 10, 2023.  Visit the program webpage for more information on the program.
CAL FIRE Forest Health Grant
Opens December 15

The CAL FIRE Forest Health Program begins accepting grant applications December 15th, 2022, to support restoration and reforestation projects throughout California.

The Forest Health Program funds projects that protect the future of our forests, alleviate the effects of climate change, support fire-resilient communities, strengthen rural economies, and improve water and air quality in California.

California's Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) remains open for all vehicle types on a first come, first served basis. HVIP funds a variety of zero-emission trucks and busses, each with their own application and funding status. To see what funding opportunities are available, and to apply, visit the California HVIP website.
Available Now: Vouchers for Zero-Emission Landscaping Equipment 
On November 7, CARB, in partnership with CALSTART, launched the Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) Voucher Incentive Project. The project provides vouchers for small business landscape professionals to purchase discounted zero-emission lawn mowers, blowers, and other equipment. Applications are open and will remain so until funding runs out. Eligible participants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Coachella Celebrates New Urban Greening and
Connectivity Project
CARB and the California Energy Commission (CEC) recently published a report stating that 1,800 zero-emission buses are operating or on order in California. The State is currently leading the nation in its effort to replace old diesel-burning buses with cleaner alternatives. Some of these programs include California Climate Investments’ Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) and Clean Mobility in Schools Pilot Project. Thanks in part to these efforts, electric school buses now make up 2% of California’s fleet of 23,800 school buses.

Fallen tree debris in a forestCity of Goleta Receives $1.7 Million CAL FIRE Grant to Help Protect Ellwood Mesa Neighborhoods from Wildfire
 
The City of Goleta is receiving a $1.7 million grant from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Wildfire Prevention Grants Program to reduce the risk of wildfire at Ellwood Mesa and its surrounding neighborhoods. The Ellwood Mesa Neighborhoods Hazard Fuel Reduction Project aims to protect wildlife and monarch butterfly habitats within the Ellwood Mesa neighborhoods. The grant will be used to remove fire-prone vegetation adjacent to the butterfly habitats. The removal of this vegetation will create a defensible space buffer, protecting 3,500 homes and sensitive wildlife species.
