GoGreen Home Financing Program
California Energy Commission (CEC)- Equitable Building Decarbonization
What does it fund?
The GoGreen Home Energy Financing Program (GoGreen Home) facilitates attractive and affordable lower cost financing for residential energy upgrades to support California’s energy efficiency, building decarbonization, and greenhouse gas reduction goals. Residents can use loans to fund the installation of all-electric appliances, energy efficiency and weatherization measures, and related building upgrades
The GoGreen Home program offers borrowers broadened credit approvals, reduced interest rates, extended term lengths, and access to larger loan amounts. The program is now eligible for all Californians, regardless of their energy provider. In addition, disadvantaged communities and low-income communities and households are eligible for even further reduced interest rates.
The program is administered by the California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority (CAEATFA).
Who is eligible for funds?
Eligible applicants include:
Residents served by publicly owned electric utilities, such as Sacramento Municipal Utilities District and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Customers of investor-owned electric utilities (Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, and San Diego Gas & Electric) are also eligible for the program through other funding.
Low-income households located in low-income and disadvantaged communities, for projects that include a heat pump for heating and cooling or a heat pump water heater. Reduced interest rates of 0%-2% are eligible for these applicants.
The property must be a single-family home, townhome, condo, duplex, triplex, fourplex or manufactured home. Both property owners and tenants (with written permission from the owner) may qualify.
How does this program provide benefits to priority populations?
Low-income households located in disadvantaged or low-income communities, or within one half mile of a disadvantaged community, are eligible for interest rate buydowns that enable participating lenders to offer interest rates of 0% or 2% for energy upgrades. Interest rate buydowns are limited to projects that include a heat pump for heating and cooling or a heat pump water heater.
How do I access funds?
More program information, including project eligibility, a list of participating contractors, financing options and links to apply for financing is available on the GoGreen Home website.
Funding timeline
GoGreen Home is currently available. Visit the program website for more information.
Please note that Part of GoGreen Home’s funding now comes from the California Energy Commission’s Equitable Building Decarbonization Statewide Incentive program.
This funding has expanded GoGreen Home to customers of publicly owned electric utilities such as Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). In addition, the Equitable Building Decarbonization Statewide Incentive Program funds interest rate buydowns, which allows lenders to offer even further reduced interest rates to low-income households in disadvantaged and low-income communities across the state.
