What does it fund?

Incentives to reduce upfront zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) costs by partnering with automakers through grant agreements to “buy down” the sticker price. Incentives will be offered at the point of sale for first time buyers or lessees of new or used ZEVs, providing $3,500 for new vehicles and $1,750 for used vehicles.

Who is eligible for funds?

Any resident in California who is a first-time ZEV buyer.

How does this program provide benefits to priority populations?

All California residents who are first-time ZEV buyers are eligible for the incentive, including disadvantaged communities, low-income communities, and low-income households. MyFirstEV incentive can be stacked with other CARB and non-CARB vehicle incentive programs such as the Driving Clean Assistance Program and Clean Cars 4 All. The program is expected to reduce the health risks and transportation cost while providing access to reliable and clean transportation mobility.

How do I access funds?

At the point of sale with participating automakers.

Funding timeline

MyFirstEV incentive launched on August 3, 2026. However, launch and availability will vary by automaker and dealership. Vehicles ordered or purchased before a participating automaker has made the incentive available will not receive the incentive. The incentive will be offered only while funding lasts on a first come, first served basis. Automakers will promote available incentives and publish eligible models and trim levels on their websites.
